  • match the situation
  • purpose–serve plot and/or character development
  • evolve voices with characters
  • voice changes with interaction
  • but also keep it consistent

May(be)

  • cut the quips
  • catch phrases
  • repeat dialogue with new meaning
  • ship banter
  • adopt voice of close person
  • accents and slang

Nay

  • out of character
  • all drama all the time
  • state the obvious
  • the pronoun game (see CinemaSins)
  • infodump
    •  each character in the circle knows the next piece of exposition
  • Civil War meme syndrome (tone/mannerism covers out of character dialogue)
  • clichés
